Twenty weeks and three
days. We have passed the half way point. The first
half of my pregnancy has been mostly about things in my
head (the excitement and adjusting to the idea of a
baby, without actually being able to feel her). I think
the second half will have much more to do with physical
changes. I now enjoy little wiggles and kicks on on a
regular basis. I absolutely love this stuff (except,
possibly, when they keep me awake at 3am). Last night,
Bill and I were watching my belly and you could totally
see movement from the outside. It's much easier to
envision something that you can feel and see. Also, I'm
finding that it's easy to develop feelings and
affections for this much more tangible baby.
Last week, we spent a lot of
time thinking about getting Baby's nursery into shape.
I've already purchased a crib, dresser/changing table
and chair (thanks to Ashley for pointing me to a
fantastic sale a couple of weeks ago). Choosing a
bedding set is tough though. I'm REALLY not good at the
decorating thing, and there are literally thousands of
options to choose from.
I think Bill and I have
decided that we want to minimize the pink in the
nursery. This makes things a little easier because
about 90% of the
bedding
sets that are appropriate for a little girl are
HEAVY on pink. From
among the remaining sets, we at least managed to narrow
things down. I'm debating between a couple of different
sets. One is very simple and has multiple solid
primary
colors (I don't have a photo). The other option
has a lot of red (Bill's favorite color), and is shown
below.
We wouldn't get all the
wall
decorations shown in the above photo.
I also probably wouldn't use the chair, lamp,
etc. But I do like the bedding. Also, the
different reds would match the chair that I have
ordered.
Bill has suggested that
our nursery theme should be "Calculus" or "Tacos."
While I have been able to find multiple crib sets with
themes like: farm animals, jungles, ABCs and sea
creatures, I have found absolutely nothing in the
"Calculus" or "Taco" department. Sorry Bill . . .
Just to let you know
how ridiculous some of these sets get, I'm posting one
that I thought was especially funny. Apparently this is
supposed to be some kind of Monkey theme for girls. I
may be mistaken, but I think the monkey on the quilt is
wearing a bra!
We will NOT be
getting the female monkey set.
