Making Progress

Week 25.  Almost the third trimester . . . almost.

Things are going well.  Amelia and I had a baby doctor's appointment on Friday.  We got a good report -- things are progressing normally.  Also, we got an H1N1 vaccination and completed some glucose testing.  I don't have the results on the testing back yet, but my doc said that he didn't think I have anything to worry about.  He said that Amelia and I seem very healthy and that gestational diabetes shouldn't be an issue for us.  It will be another month before we have another appointment, and more frequently thereafter until the delivery date arrives.

At home and in Kansas City, there have been significant preparations for that date.  Let's start with Kanasas City.  I received this photo from Poppi and Puter.  As you can see, the Kansas City playhouse is really taking shape.  Puter and Aunt Martha have given it some sound roofing, a door, windows and a bright coat of paint.  It will be moved into its permanent place in front of the Kalahurka house today.  I can't wait so see the finished product in person!!  (Click here too see how the playhouse has progressed in just a few weeks).

At home, we have also been preparing for Amelia.  Our nursery furniture finally came in (dresser, rocking chair and crib).  We moved it all into place yesterday.  Below are some photos.  (Click here to see the "before" photos of Amelia's room).

It's difficult to tell from the photo, but the chair swivels and rocks.  The footstool was a gift to Bill when he was born, and so has a special place in Amelia's room.  It has a little gold plate on the front with Bill's  name and date of birth.   I thought it was kind of neat that he still had it.  I am also really proud of the photos that we hung above Amelia's dresser.  Again, it's a little difficult to see from the photo above, but they are beautifully detailed photographs of butterflies that my friend Clea took (she's quite a photographer).  I'm leaning towards using a butterfly/dragonfly theme for the room, and so these were perfect.  Below are some close-ups that show the actual photos (click on the thumbnail to view the full size version.  Thanks Clea!

Of course, we still have a lot of work to do.  I still need to make a final decision and order some crib bedding.  Possibly think about some curtains and maybe a rug.  We probably also need a few more things on the walls . . .  Still, I feel like we made some real progress this weekend.  Hopefully a big portion of the work is now behind us.
