BABY CZYSZ!?!

I woke up early for a Saturday morning.  Clea was picking me up before 6am.  Clea, Teresa and I had entered the 1st Annual Women's Lavender 10K.  The race was in Blaco, Texas (a pretty good drive), and so we wanted to get an early start.

Just to make sure that yesterday hadn't been some kind of weird dream, I decided to take another test.  POSITIVE AGAIN!!  Awesome (this is so much more fun than failing).  I decided that, while we would need to wait a while before telling most friends and family, I was going to have to tell Clea and Teresa.  They are probably my closest girl friends and would be curious as to why I would not be "racing" this morning's 10K.

I announced my big news on the drive to Blanco.  While Teresa seemed really excited, Clea had an unusually subdued reaction.  She didn't really seem to want to talk about it, and so we continued on to Blanco.

Clea and Teresa ran the 10K (each placing in their respective age-groups).  I did my own run-walk version.  We enjoyed some post-race munchies and headed home.

About 45 minutes after we got home, I got a call from Clea.  When I answered, she said . . . "um . . . we may both be having our babies at the same time . . ."  I was absolutely SHOCKED!  Clea filled me in on the details.  Apparently she and Mike had also been trying (I had no idea).  She had had a negative test this month, and so thought that she wasn't pregnant (hence her somewhat subdued reaction to my news).  Anyway, just for the heck of it, she had taken another test when she got home from the race and . . . it was positive!  How totally cool is that ?!?  This was absolutely great news.  I'm looking forward to having someone to share this adventure with!!

We've decided to call Baby Kalahurka and Baby Czysz "Little Stevie #1" and "Little Stevie #2," respectively.  These names honor one of our best running buddies -- Steve -- who will now likely have to listen to more than his share of pregnancy related talk during our weekly runs.

If you are interested in tracking Little Stevie #2, you should check out Clea's blog -- http://pancakeiscute.blogspot.com
