YAK ATTACK

One of the neat things about being pregnant at the same time as my friend Clea is that we get to share experiences -- comparing notes, if you will.  Initially, we both noticed that we were feeling little waves of nausea.  About a week later, we both agreed that the waves were pretty much now continuous -- lasting most of the day.  At seven weeks, I figured that this would be about as bad as things would get, and while annoying, I figured that it was manageable.  It was also a good sign that hormones were increasing and so Baby Kalahurka was right on track.

Last week, Clea e-mailed me to let me know that she was now experiencing full-on vomiting.  While I felt sympathy for her, I was secretly pleased that I had avoided this common pregnancy occurrence.  I had read a few books by then, and they all indicated that while some women would actually toss cookies, many only experienced the puerperal nauseous feeling that I had pretty much learned to live with.  I figured that if Clea was tossing, I would have already started that if it were going to happen (Little Stevie #1 is a couple of days ahead of her Little Stevie #2).

WRONG.

Today, about 20 minutes of lunch, I experienced my first full-on yak attack.  Gross.  I lost most of lunch, and later, part of dinner.  The  bad part is that it's disgusting and makes your throat burn.  The good part is that it passes quickly and then you finally get a few hours of feeling pretty good before the yucky feeling starts again.

Still, I figure this is all part of the game.  It also apparently means that Little Stevie #1 is doing well.  And so the adventure continues . . . .
