Sick, Sick, Sick

So maybe I shouldn't have posted all of those New Years resolutions about being a better parent.  No sooner do you make such declarations than life puts you to the test.  I'm not so sure that I passed with flying colors.

The mommy job was really tough this past weekend.  I had a pretty ugly cold, cough, and sore throat.  Due to Baby Billy on Board, there wasn't really much that I could take for it -- just try to endure.  That was tough by itself, but then Amelia was not feeling well either.  She didn't have a fever, but she definitely was not herself.  She picked up some version of my cold (or maybe I picked it up from her), and it was clear that she was miserable.  She completely lost her voice, so I know that her throat was probably as sore as mine.  She spent most of the weekend making big alligator tears and crying her pitiful little silent, voiceless cry.  The only thing that seemed to make her feel better was a bath, and so we had three of those on each of Saturday and Sunday.  Bill took her to the doctor today (even though she seemed to be feeling MUCH better) and it seems she also has a little ear infection.  She seemed to be back to her normal happy self tonight though, and so I'm optimistic that the worst is over.

Even with all of the New Years resolutions, I found myself really looking forward to getting back to work this morning.  It's easier to be sick without compounding it by feeling helpless about a sick kiddo who can't tell you what's going on.  I admit that I've got some guilt about all of this.  I just hope that Amelia will forgive me.

The real trooper award for this weekend goes to Bill.  He had to put up with two miserable women in the house.  He was really good to give me a couple of much-needed breaks when things were really bad.  Time for a nap here.  Time for a shower there.  He also gave up most of his day yesterday assembling Billy's baby furniture and then most of the day today taking Amelia to the doctor and picking up prescriptions.  He's a super dad.  I hope he knows that.

Okay, here are this week's photos.  In the first, Amelia decided to accessorize her PJs with a hat made by our friend Elizabeth and by wearing her hair bow around her neck like a necktie.  "Hat" is one of Amelia's words.  She will say it and, occasionally, she actually manages to get the hat onto her own head (although usually upside-down).  The other two photos show her enjoying some SB&J (Soy Butter and Jelly) sandwiches.  We always have to go straight from SB&J to BATH.

Next week -- double digit adventure and an update on Baby Billy (doc's appointment for him tomorrow).  20 weeks along -- I guess Billy is officially "half-baked."
