Bilingual Amelia

We had another good weekend.  Despite a rare mid-week ice/snow storm, the weather warmed up and we again got some outdoor time on Saturday and Sunday.  Saturday was a long walk at Town Lake in the morning followed by lunch, play time at home and a trip to Pioneer Farms with Jasper and Clea.  Amelia seemed to enjoy looking at the animals.  I think her favorite was not even a "farm animal" -- it was a friendly orange cat that came up to visit with us.  She chased it around for a while and definitely seemed more interested in it than the cat seemed to be in her.

On Sunday we got more outdoor time and we also had fun at Jasper's birthday party at the Childrens' Museum.  In the evening, Amelia and I watched the Super Bowl together at home.  We let Bill go enjoy some "man time" with his Football Insanity friends.  In exchange, Bill watched Amelia in the morning while I enjoyed a pedicure.  It was a good trade-off for me.  By the time Super Bowl rolled around, Amelia was totally worn out from the birthday party and other activities of the day.  I watched a lot of the game with her asleep on my chest.

Amelia's new word this week was "agua."  Unlike a lot of other words that she says, but doesn't really understand, she seems to know exactly what this means.  She says it when she wants her sippy cup, and she says it when I turn on the bath water.  She also responds with "agua" when asked, "Amelia, how do you say water in Spanish?"  I have to say, I'm pretty impressed.

Baby Billy still seems to be doing well.  He's moving around a lot these days and my back is beginning to let me know that I've been carrying around two babies instead of just one.  I have an appointment scheduled for tomorrow, so maybe there will be an official update next week.  23 weeks and counting.  Yikes!!

Below are this week's photos and a short video of Amelia's word of the week. The photos show her strutting around in her '80s leg warmers and stylish, personalized "ruffle butt" wear.  (Thanks Tiffany!)

Enjoy
