December 29, 2009 Week 33
I'm a little
behind on my blogging, and so have a number of
fun things to report.
First, we
made some improvements to
Amelia's room! My
niece, Aubrey, read this blog a while back and
must have noticed my decorating stress. She had
the great idea of adding some name letters to
the wall in Amelia's room. Aubrey has already
made name letters for her own room, and so she
offered to help me make some for
Amelia. We
spent a day during the weekend before last making
them. They turned out GREAT. Here are the
photos (click on the thumbnails below to view the

Next on the
report is our fun trip to Kansas City. We
arrived in KC on Wednesday. On Christmas Eve,
we went to Bill's grandparent's house for the
traditional family gathering and "white
elephant" gift exchange. This year, Bill's
family was sneaky (and very thoughtful). They
all conspired to turn the gift exchange into a
surprise baby shower for
Amelia! We
received all sorts of great things that we will
definitely need. Loads of diapers, blankets,
booties, baby leg-warmers, cute clothes, a
"booger vacuum" and a VERY special handmade
quilt from Amelia's great-grandmother. All I
can say is that our baby is very lucky to be
born into such a loving and generous family. We
are grateful.
Overall, it was
a wonderful weekend. There was lots of snow
-- a VERY unusual
white Christmas for me. It made me
realize what is really great about a white
Christmas. You can't really get outside
to do things, so it is a perfect excuse to
cuddle up inside and read, play games, visit
with family and generally relax. I totally took
advantage of the relaxation opportunity. While
in KC, we enjoyed visiting with Poppi and Puter,
Bill's Grandpa, Uncle Terry, Katie & Jon and
even Annie & Dylan (via Skype). We also enjoyed
a short, but fun, visit with our friends Tom,
Steph and Ava Sullivan.
Here are some photos of the Kansas City Snow, including some updated photos of Amelia's Awesome Playhouse! (Click on the thumbnails to view the larger photos):
There are a lot more
photos from our trip, but probably too much for
the baby blog. If you are interested, you
can see all of the KC Christmas photos in our
online photo album. Enjoy!
We made it home without much trouble on Sunday. Now it's back to work, but luckily, this week has been pretty slow. It's nice to be able to ease back into things.
Next week will
be week 34 . . . only six or seven more weeks
until we meet Baby Amelia.
Stay tuned . . .
