Strange Weekend

It's been a very strange weekend for me. I dropped Bill and Amelia off at the airport on Friday morning at 5am. They spent the weekend in KC with Bill's family. With lots of transactions closing before year-end, it was a tough time for me to be away from work, so I had to skip this trip. The result, however, has been 4 whole days without Bill or Amelia. I admit that I've been VERY productive without having to keep up with Amelia all weekend, but I'm definitely suffering from severe mommy withdrawal. I'm really glad that my family is coming home to me tomorrow!

So here is what I've done on my strange family-free weekend.

I still woke up early, even without Amelia calling out to me from her room. I think I'm just on the mommy clock now. So I got up both mornings and started cleaning/organizing. Yesterday was our bedroom/bathroom and closet. I made a HUGE delivery to Goodwill. This morning was Amelia's room.  Another HUGE delivery to goodwill.

Yesterday, after all of the cleaning, I went shopping -- finished my Christmas shopping and also did some "Stephanie shopping." Then I got my first pedicure. I have never had one before because, with all of my running, I figured that it probably wasn't worth the money just to ruin it on the next long run. But I've been doing a lot more baby-making than long runs lately, and so I decided to go find out what this "mani-pedi" hype is all about. I think I'm now addicted to pedicures. There are definitely more of those in my future!

Pretty Toes!!

After the pedicure, I came home, wrapped packages, had dinner out with a friend, watched a sappy chick flick in my super-soft adult-sized footie pajamas (thanks Poppi!!) while enjoying some hot chocolate and then I retired for the evening.

Today, they highlight was Skyping with Bill's family. We opened gifts "together" and I got to see that Amelia is really having a great time with the Kalahurkas. She was all smiles. The rest of the day was spent visiting friends, finalizing Christmas details and playing my piano (loudly, because there's no sleeping baby in the house!). I also spoiled myself with a trip to Strait Music for a new piano book. I am pleased to announce that I made it in and out of there without deciding to take up another instrument and making a spontaneous purchase. The mandolin was AWFULLY tempting, but I resisted. Really, that store is like Stephanie Crack . . . did I mention the 8-foot concert grand pianos . . . . it's a good thing we don't have any room in the house for one!!

Okay, so that was my family-free weekend. I suspect that it may be the last for years to come. I feel like I made the most of it. While I enjoyed the free time, I am really fortunate to have my Bill and Amelia. I miss them terribly and can't wait for them to come home to me safely.

Next week -- Amelia's first Christmas and MAYBE a revelation about the gender of BK2.
